William de Wilde is a British painter, illustrator and educator, of Flemish heritage. He specialises in botanical illustration and painting, portraiture and landscape painting.
William is a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists (FSBA) and painting member of the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society (CPGFS). He lives and works in West Sussex.
In January 2025, William was awarded a grant from The Society of Botanical Aritsts to focus on the vital role of Britain’s roadside verges as habitats for rare and endangered native plants. This 2025 project will document and illustrate wildflowers growing in Sussex verges, aiming to raise awareness of their ecological importance.
